I'm so excited to be linking up with a couple of my favorite bloggers this week for What's Up Wednesday!

What I'm eating-

Chicken/coleslaw tacos

These are a staple in our household. They are so easy to make and delicious! 3 ingredients and DONE!

We prefer corn tortillas that we warm up on the griddle and the Tyson BBQ Chicken strips that you bake in the over for about 20 minutes. Jayson makes the coleslaw while the chicken is baking so the whole meal only takes about 20 minutes to make! (If you're knew around here, Jayson does 90% of the cooking in our home and I am SO thankful for that! He is a wonderful cook and keeps us all well fed.)

What I'm reminiscing about:

It was about this time last year that I was getting ready to take my maternity leave. I had originally planned to work up until the week before I would deliver Madison BUT that little booger made sure I got a couple extra weeks off before she made her arrival.

When you’re a teacher, you spend HOURS making sub plans for a maternity leave. Hours and hours, days and days of planning. It’s a nightmare but of course, it’s worth it.

Last March, I was huge and miserable every single day. I loved being pregnant the first time around. The second time was so much harder for me. I was exhausted all the time.

There are 4 Kindergarten teachers at my school. 3 of us were pregnant at the same time!! Literally all due in March & April. We were the talk of the town for a little while. 😆

Kendra has her baby before this picture was taken so she was already at home enjoying some baby snuggles. Shelley & I were counting down the days until it was our turn! I am so thankful that we all went through that experience together. It was so neat to have friends in the same boat I was in. And now our babies are all going to grow up together. ❤️ Instant friends!

I had to make myself look presentable because if I didn’t it made me feel even worse. Growing a human is no joke!

What I'm loving-

I was scrolling through pictures on my phone yesterday and saw this. It made me instantly miss my sweet little Kindergartners! 😔

It's March! And in Texas that means the birds are chirping and the plants are blooming!

I obviously DON'T love summer here because 110 degrees is just too much for me but Spring is nice. It's been about 65 degrees all week and looks like that will continue for a couple more weeks. It is perfect for outdoor recess! Kindergartners are so thoughtful. When they see these pretty yellow WEEDS they always want to pick them for their teachers. If I could keep them in a bouquet on my desk, I would. <3

What a sweet little memory to come across right now.

What we've been up to-

Birthday parties GALORE! We have already been to 2 and have 2 or 3 more coming up in the next month. They are all for babies and toddlers, too. I love it. They are always so excited to open all their presents and eat all the cake.

The first party we went to was for a sweet little boy turning 1. There were a TON of babies and toddlers there but Mackenzie was too cool to play with them. She wanted to sit by all the adults and play with all the teenage girls. Oh. My. Goodness. How old does she think she is?! I just kept trying to get her to go back inside with her actual friends and she just kept saying, "No thanks, Mommy." I can't even deal with this girls personality sometimes. So big. So independent. And SO sure of what she wants all the time. I love her big personality so much!

Then we had a friend who turned 2 and her party theme was farm. They had a horse for the kids to pet! It was so neat. But I'll be honest....I'm a little terrified of horses. They are just SO big. I've only been around horses once or twice when I was little so I don't have much experience with them. I think it would be neat to learn how to ride one!

In case you didn't know...not everyone who lives in Texas rides horses!

What I'm doing this weekend:

We lucked out when we bought our house 3 years ago. We have beautiful landscaping in our front and backyard that the previous owners put in. While it is beautiful, it is a pain! It all grows so fast once the rainy season starts so we try to trim it up in February and March. Last year I was obvi preggo so we paid a landscape company to come trim it all up for us. That was nice but since I am able-bodied this year we’ll be doing it ourselves. 😂

I hate, hate, hate pulling weeds.

What I'm excited about-

This is silly. Are you ready for it. I'm excited about TikTok. *FACE PALM*

I am late to the game here because I told myself I wasn't going to download it. It was just for kids. I am too old. It's pointless and a waste of time.

And here I am. Obsessed. Watching and making my own videos. Ugh. I got sucked in! But it is great!

There are so many hilarious videos on there! And some really creative ones, too!

What I'm listening to-

I am currently listening to my sweet little girls play together.

We are all getting a little bored in the house. Some days are better than others. A 3 year old and a 1 year old already know how to push each others buttons!

I am thankful when they do get along. ❤️

The other day, Mackenzie was eating a Cutie orange and Madison was standing up in front of her watching every bite she took. I didn’t say anything, just watched. Mackenzie was so sweet and gave Madison a slice of her orange! Madison clapped and asked for more and Mackenzie complied so kindly! I was so proud!

Sharing is a hard thing for toddlers and it’s even harder when you have a new sister who steals lots of the attention. Of course she doesn‘t always WANT to share with her but we are working on it, one day at a time!

What I'm working on-

Madison's birthday party plans....*sigh*

It is tentatively scheduled for the end of April right now but we will see if I'm able to keep that date. She will get a party, it just might be a little late. :(

In the meantime, I have had lots of fun finding and buying all the things! There are still a few things I need for her cake smash pictures but I can order all that stuff so I don't have to go out in public right now!

Here is what I have so far...

The theme is, “you are my sunshine,” so everything is bright yellow!

I decided to make use of these for now and put them in my kitchen. They will go on the cake table for decoration during the party. The flowers, watering can, and cake stands are from Michaels. They are having 25% off one regular priced item right now. They have a TON of Spring things! These cake stands also come in yellow and pink! It was a hard decision which colors to get. I stuck to white because I'm WAYYY more likely to use white again. Yellow and pink are fun but I don't think they are very versatile throughout the year.

I also ordered lots of goodies from Oriental Trading! I’m thankful for their coupons because I could easily spend lots of money on that website and those coupons helped me save a little bit!

What I'm watching-

I have 3 shows that I'm watching on Hulu right now, because....mom life doesn't allow me to watch them when they actually air!

A Million Little Things- OMG, talk about a good show! It is a bit of a tear jerker sometimes. I like it because it‘s one of those shows that COULD be real life but it’s not. It’s filled with real events that a lot of people do go through and it shows how amazing people are at dealing with hard situations in life.

Im also watching This Is Us. My husband and I watch this one together. (He doesn’t watch many of the same shows as me so like this time that we get together to watch it.)

If you haven’t seen it yet, you are missing out! It has Mandy Moore & Milo Ventimiglia in it. They are 2 of my favorite actors!

I recently started watching Little Fires Everywhere. Woah... I almost had to quit watching it because it made me feel like someone punched me in the gut. There was an episode or 2 about a mom who couldn’t feed her newborn baby because of money issues and gosh... it tore me up! Overall I enjoy it but it’s definitely not a show you watch to feel good.

I just realized something...all 3 shows that I'm watching are not very light-hearted. While they are great shows, they are very serious and filled with emotion. Maybe I need to find a show or 2 that make me laugh...I'll get to work on that this week!

What I'm wearing-

Let me start by saying all of these pictures were taken a few weeks ago, when I was actually getting dressed still. (I haven’t been doing much of that lately. 😖)

I have been so excited to shop lately! It is my favorite time of the season... clearance time! I hardly ever buy myself full price clothes. I’m too cheap for that! 😂

I bought this color-block sweater for $6!! From WALMART! I can’t believe I’m even telling y’all that. But yep. It’s from Walmart and I love it!

When I was younger, I would never tell you if I was wearing something from Walmart. I would have been so embarrassed by that but y’all, they have seriously stepped it up! This sweater is great quality and so very cozy!

Also, black is like a freaking staple in my closet. I swear 1/2 of my clothes are BLACK! Nothing wrong with that, though, right?

Another clearance find here! Pants and shirt are from Old Navy! I love being able to wear some Spring colors now!
