There’s a first time for everything!
I did a thing this past Saturday. I had my first real outing with the girls all alone. If you're an experienced mom that might not sound like a big deal but since I've had Madison I've developed sort of a... social anxiety. Even when I have my husband with me, I am a paranoid, stressed out wreck every time we take the girls in public. My husband doesn't really understand it and to be honest, neither do I. I am terrified that one of the girls will have a meltdown or fall and get hurt or...or...or...the list is endless. BUT thankfully, the girls did great and I held my composure throughout the trip! *Go us!*
So anyway, I took both girls to the zoo! We live about 30 minutes away so it ended up being a 4 hour trip. I will admit, I was a tad nervous, okay okay, a lot nervous! A 3 year old and a 9 month old. You never know what could happen or how many fits they could throw! I always get nervous when one (or both) of them starts melting down. People stare. I get flustered. It’s not fun. Thankfully, it was a wonderful time with no major fits!
We did go with a friend, who also had her 2 kids by herself. Her kids are about the same ages as mine so they are all friends. 🙂 Four kids. Two nervous moms. At a zoo. On a Saturday. AND IT TURNED OUT SO GOOD! Just look at how precious these kids are!! I can’t even stand the cuteness!
So here are some words of encouragement for all you mama's. You can do it! It might not be easy. There might be meltdowns but you can do it. If at the end of the day, everyone had a good time, then you succeeded! Know that we have all been there. If people are staring, it's likely because they are thinking, "Oh, girl, I've been there! IT'S OKAY!" Take it one outing at a time, breathe, and know that you are stronger than you think and you, mama, can handle anything!
